Artist's Statement:
"No
Mind": The Zen Concept of Spiritual, Selfless
Creativity
Shodo,
the art of Japanese calligraphy, is a profoundly
powerful, spiritual art form which has transformed
people's lives for hundreds of years throughout
Asia.
Why do I
focus my creative energy on shodo? So
that through this ancient art people can receive messages
and insights from the highest dimension within our
universe.
When I work
within a "No Mind" zone, which is a concept of Zen
Buddhism, I am enabled to transmit God's energy through
my being into my brush, and am guided to create
shodo that incorporates the messages flowing out
from divine energy. When people view my calligraphy they
receive, consciously or unconsciously, these messages and
sense the writing's inner vibrations: this can lead
to a positive shift in their awareness and
insights.
These
vibrations continue to emanate when my shodo is
hung in a person's home or space, which can result in
beneficial growth and insights.
Recently,
when a couple hung my shodo symbol of "Harmony" in
their kitchen, they experienced a greater awareness of
the need to communicate with serenity and peace, rather
than with the harshness they formerly
conveyed.
I feel
privileged that I have been given this opportunity
to share the ancient and powerful art
of shodo, through which I am enabled and
empowered to make a positive contribution to people's
lives.
The following are examples
(and meanings) of shodo created by the artist and
teacher, Solana Yuko Halada.
What others are saying about Solana's
artwork:
"I have four pieces of Solana Yuko Halada’s
Japanese calligraphy adorning my home. I was somewhat skeptical
and did not think the calligraphy would change anything
acoustically. But after hanging her works, I noticed that the
art pieces changed the energy in the entire house. It became
noticeable right away. The person helping me hang the shodo art
mentioned, 'Have you noticed the change in this house? It just
feels more serene and peaceful.' I love Yuko’s work. She is a
true artist."

"Small"

Of what
use can
I be, I
who am
so
small?
This
used to
worry
me. But
one day
I
discovered
that
the
smallest
deeds
can
lead to
momentous
results.

"Always
With
Light"
|
|
There
are ups
&
downs
in our
lives.
We were
born
into
this
world
to
learn
and
grow by
going
through
hardships
and
challenges.
If we
can
offer
gratitude
not
only
for our
blessings
but for
our
hardships
and
challenges
as
well,
we
shall
always
be with
LIGHT.

"Origin"
|
|
The
Origin
–
Creator
-- of
the
human
race,
religion
and
world
is One.
Let us
return
to our
Origin
of
spirit.
Then
Heaven
on
Earth
can
exist
as One
and we
can
once
again
dwell
in the
Garden
of
Peace
and
Harmony.

The

Let Us
Love
"Human
Beings"
|
|
When we
dislike
a
person
because
of
his/her
disagreeable
character
traits,
those
traits
only
become
more
marked
and
permanent.
But if
we can
train
ourselves
to
vanish
our
negative
thoughts
and
focus
on even
one of
his/her
positive
traits
and
acknowledge
his/her
shinning
divinity,
we can
then
send
appreciated
energy
to this
person.
If we
can do
this,
we will
help
this
person
to
eliminate
his/her
negative
traits,
and to
bloom
into a
beautiful
rose.
If we
can
master
this
skill,
we then
posses
a key
ingredient
to
change
our
world,
life
situations
and
ourselves.

"Happiness"
|
|
As much
as we
cry, we
become
a
person
of
tenderness.
As much
as we
laugh,
we
become
a
person
of
happiness.

"Mirror"
|
|
When we
see
some
aspect
we
don't
like in
another
person,
it is
because
we have
that
same
aspect
in
ourselves.
But we
haven't
yet
acknowledged
it,
dealt
with
it, or
unconditionally
loved
it.
What we
see in
others
is a
mirror
of our
own
reflection,
a wake
up call
and a
gift
from
the
Universe.

"Love"
|
|
If we
could
love
the
children
of
others
as much
as we
love
our
own, we
would
have
Heaven
on
Earth.
Would
you
like to
join me
in
reaching
this
goal?

"Dream
and
Vision"
|
|
Since
birth
we have
been
given
everything
we need
to
pursue
our
true
mission
in life
and
make a
difference
in our
world.
So
don't
worry
how to
manifest
your
dream
and
vision.
Just go
for it!
Your
burning
passion
will
inspire
the
universe
so that
whatever
you
need
will
follow
your
desire

intention.
The

has
unlimited

for
you.

"True
Justice"
|
|
In all
ages,
people
have
had
many
different
concepts
of
justice.
Despite
this, I
wish
these
differences
would
not
stand
in the
way of
friendship.

"Dawn"
|

The
dawn of
spiritual
civilization
has
arrived
on
earth.
But we
still
need to
go
through
an
intense
earth
level
of
cleansing,
through
hardships
and
challenges,
so we
can be
purified
spiritually
and
come
out of
darkness.
Let us
strive
to
obtain
higher
consciousness
so that
we can
be
prepared
for and
open to
this
transition.
